4 Ways to Boost Your Creativity
9 May 21
Being creative isn’t always easy. One day you could be bursting with great new ideas, and the other – not so much. Luckily, science can help! Here are several surprisingly simple triggers that can help boost your creativity.
Take a shower
Mindless tasks like taking a shower give your mind the opportunity to wander and therefore can help the creative process. After all, it’s not without reason that people say “some of the best ideas come in the shower”.
Make a change to your morning routine
Making adjustments to your morning routine can help break existing cognitive patterns, and therefore improve creativity. The best part is that these adjustments don’t have to be major at all. Do you normally shower before breakfast? Try switching it around, and showering after breakfast instead. Do you usually pour milk into coffee? Try doing it the other way around – pour coffee into milk.
Do something that terrifies you
Getting out of your comfort zone and doing something that terrifies you is not only a great way to boost creativity, but it’s also a great way to grow in general. Take up a new class, give a public speech, or just talk to a stranger on the bus! Any situation that will force you to step out of your comfort zone will trigger your creative thinking.
Change your surroundings
Just like with making adjustments to your morning routine, changing your surroundings can too help spark creativity. Try working in a different area for a change or sitting next to different colleagues, and see how that affects your creativity!
