Why Having a 4-Day Workweek Would Be Beneficial

20 May 21

You’ve probably already heard discussions about a 4-day work week. While it sounds like a dream to employees, have you ever wondered how an employer could benefit from this? Turns out, there are quite a few benefits, and we’re about to share them with you.

It’s no secret that you’re not always productive while working. Whether it’s coffee breaks, chatting with colleagues, or you just straight up can’t focus – we all have those moments or even days when we can’t get much done and are just waiting for the clock to hit 6 pm so we can go home.

Research has shown that employees can get the same amount of work done during both four days and five days. There are various reasons for this, some of which include that employees are less stressed, well-rested, learn to improve their time management skills, and more.

However, the benefits of a 4-day workweek increase beyond productivity – it can also have a great psychological impact on employees. With more time to rest, the probability of a burnout at work is greatly decreased. Not to mention, finding the highly appraised work-life balance is also much easier with a 4-day work week. But the benefits don’t just stop here.

Let’s not forget about our carbon footprint when working. Therefore, reducing a workweek from five to four days could have environmental benefits as well.

Obviously, there’s a lot more when it comes to discussing a 4-day workweek. Either way, benefits are clearly visible. Will a 4-day workweek become a part of the future of work? We’ll just have to wait and see.
