IKEA Is Now Selling Tiny, Sustainable Homes

4 January 21

IKEA is known for its furniture and home goods products, but now they’ve taken up a new project.

The Swedish retailer teamed up with VOX Creative to build a tiny home with eco-friendly features. Decorated in neutral tones, the home is in the form of a trailer, which was customized by tiny home builder Escape.

Some of the eco-friendly features include solar panels, composting toilets, a gas-free portable cooktop, and on-demand heated water supply. Not to mention, lots of focus was put into using renewable, reusable, and recycled materials. Think kitchen cupboards made with recycled bottle tops, wooden kitchen countertops that were created with “efficient use of natural resources”. The tiny home also features built-in storage and furniture to save space, such as a collapsible desk.

The sustainable home took a total of 60 days to complete. The result is a functional yet beautiful space that inspires you to live a minimalist lifestyle where you only have things you truly need. Sustainable, space-saving, multifunctional, and energy-efficient.

Now want to see how the home actually looks? Click here to take a virtual tour! If you’re interested in getting a home like this yourself, prices start from $47,550.
