Amazon Opens A Hair Salon To Test New Technology

E-commerce giant Amazon has just opened a hair salon in London to test out new technology. Set over two floors, the salon will offer a variety of unique services not usually available at salons. 

One of these services will be augmented reality technology-based hair consultations. This means that customers will be able to test out different hairstyles before actually getting them done. For example, trying on virtual hair colours. They will also be able to enjoy entertainment on Amazon’s Fire tablets at styling stations. 

As for shopping, the salon will offer point-and-learn technology where customers can simply point at a product on the display shelf and see all the relevant information on a screen mounted behind. To order a product, customers just scan the QR code, which will take them to Amazon.co.uk to order the product and get it delivered straight to their home.

“We have designed this salon for customers to come and experience some of the best technology, hair care products and stylists in the industry,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “We want this unique venue to bring us one step closer to customers, and it will be a place where we can collaborate with the industry and test new technologies.”

All the physical hair services at Amazon Salon will be provided by Elena Lavagni, a highly renowned hairstylist, and her team. A range of services will be available for both adults and children, including basic cuts, blow drying, balayage, braids, highlights, and more. 

Currently, Amazon Salon is open to Amazon employees only but it will open up to the public soon.
