What Global Companies Are Doing To Help Ukraine

8 March 22

There’s no doubt that Ukraine is going through something none of us could imagine. Nonetheless, the people of Ukraine have shown incredible bravery and courage in defending their country. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is showing their support in any way they can, including global companies. Lots of companies have made public statements calling for peace, while others have done a little extra. Let’s take a look at what some of the brands have done to show their support to Ukraine.

Grammarly

The Ukrainian-founded online writing assistant that edits and proofreads documents has donated a large sum of money to causes supporting Ukraine. And this large sum of money has a story behind it too. According to the founders, the tech company decided to “donate all of the net revenue earned from Russia and Belarus since the war started in 2014 through 2022,” totalling to $5 million.

IKEA

The Swedish retail group is donating $22 million to “humanitarian assistance to those who have been forcibly displaced as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.” In addition, Ingka Group (which operates IKEA stores globally) will also grant $11 million.

Uber

The ride-hailing app has announced that it’s offering free rides between the Ukraine-Poland border and two Polish cities. In addition, Uber plans to launch an in-app donation button in the U.S., and match donations of up to $1 million made through it.

L’Oreal

The French beauty company has released a solidarity plan for Ukraine following the Russian invasion. It includes a consolidated humanitarian action plan, an immediate donation of $1 million, as well as donations of over 300,000 hygiene products to incoming refugees.

Airbnb

The online marketplace for vacation rentals has announced that they will provide free, short-term housing to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees. According to the company’s statement, “these stays will be funded by Airbnb, Inc., donors to the Airbnb.org Refugee Fund, and the generosity of Hosts through Airbnb.org.”

These are just a few of the hundreds of brands that are showing their support to Ukraine. Companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, FedEx, Unilever, H&M, EA, Vodafone, and more, have also contributed to helping Ukraine during this time in need.
