Lithuania is Building the Largest Tech Campus in Europe

3 July 23

Lithuania is about to build the largest tech campus in Europe, beating out Paris’ Station F – the current largest startup campus in Europe. The infrastructure project is rumored to cost around 100 million euro. The project will span 55,000 square meters and will be able to house up to 5,000 workers.

The project will be built by a Lithuanian infrastructure firm Tech Zity. The idea is to renovate old factories in the area maintaining an industrial look to the offices, with ceiling heights of at least 7 meters.

One of the main goals of the new tech campus project is to motivate tech workers to return to the office post-pandemic. Companies around the globe have been pushing against the work from home culture that became prevalent during the pandemic. A cool new working space could be just the thing to sway employees back to the office.

The new project seems to be centered around Lithuanian tech companies such as Nord and Srufshark, Oxylabs and Cybercare. Tech Zity Vilnius will also include restaurants and loft living spaces above the offices.

Lithuania has attracted 222 million euros of investments in 2022. That is still quite a bit less than their Western European peers. U.K. tech companies raised around $30 billion, while French tech companies around 13.5 billion euros in 2022.

With the recent explosion of fintech, cybersecurity, and e-governance companies in Vilnius some are already calling Vilnius the Baltic Silicon Valley.

But can Vilnius really be called the Baltic Silicon Valley? Well, there is still some work to be done, but the future looks bright. By continuing to grow fintech, cybersecurity, and e-governance sectors Vilnius could be well on the way on becoming the tech-center of Europe.
