How To Build An Engaged Audience On Social Media
1 October 20
In order to successfully sell products or services online, you need an engaged audience. The saying quality over quantity perfectly fits in here. Many business owners believe that you need thousands of followers to have consistent sales. However, that is far from the truth. The most important thing is engagement. Engagement is what helps you sell.
4 Steps to Building an Engaged Audience Online:
1. Acknowledge your followers
Don’t just take your followers for granted. Out of all the profiles on social media, they decided to follow you – acknowledge that.
Thank them for being there and show them that you appreciate their presence. A few ways you could do this is by sending them a thank you message after they follow you, liking their photo, or simply reminding them that you wouldn’t be where you are without them, and for that you are grateful.
2. Ask questions
If you want your followers to engage with you – give them the opportunity to do so. Depending on likes or hoping they will comment on a random post is not very promising.
Offer them a way to engage by asking them questions in your posts, stories, or polls. These questions don’t necessarily have to be tied to your product or industry. Interact with them like with a friend. The more engagement you have, the more social media platforms will work in your favor.
3. Offer freebies
Everyone likes free things. Offer your followers something free, such as a lead magnet, that will give them a peek of the full product or service that you are selling.
For example, if you’re selling a 3-week weight loss program, offer them 3 days of the program for free. This will benefit both you and your follower – your follower will be happy they got something for free, and you will be more likely to sell the full product/service after they’ve seen the sample! It’s a win-win situation.
4. Share behind-the-scenes moments
Sharing raw, behind-the-scenes moments is always a good idea. Your followers will not only get to see what the creative process looks like, but they will also see how much time and effort you put into your product or service. This will ultimately increase the perceived value of what you sell and increase the chance of it being sold!
As you can see, there are plenty of strategies to increase engagement on your social media. Keep on following these tips consistently and you are sure to build an audience that sells eventually.
