Bombardier Reveals New Global 8000 – The World’s Fastest Jet

20 June 22

Canadian company Bombardier has just revealed the soon-to-be “world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet” – Global 8000.

How fast will it be?

Nearly two decades after the retirement of Concorde, Bombardier’s Global 8000 is expected to have a range of 8000 nautical miles (14800 kilometers) and a top speed of Mach 0.94. This range will allow the jet to connect cities like Los Angeles and Singapore and London and Perth. The Montreal-based company states that it will be the “fastest business jet in the world and the fastest in civil aviation since the Concorde.”

Bombardier has been testing the high speeds on a Global 7500 demonstrator aircraft. “The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era,” stated Éric Martel, president and CEO for Bombardier.

How will the interior look?

As for the interior, Global 8000 will hold up to 19 passengers, including four personalized suites.

The Principal Suite will have a full-size bed, while the En-suite will include even a stand-up shower. Not to mention, there will be a meeting room, a dining room, a kitchen, a cinema room, and, of course, Wi-Fi.

When is it launching?

The jet is currently still in development, but Bombardier states it’ll enter service in 2025. However, it might not be the only fast jet. United Airlines plans to buy 15 supersonic jets from Colorado startup Boom. The jet is expected to debut by 2025 and fly at 1.7 Mach. It’ll hold up to 88 passengers, all in business class. United Airlines hopes to  have the jet in service by 2029.
