6 Signs You’re Overworked

28 January 21

Working hard to reach your goals is great! However, there is a thin line between working hard and working too hard. The problem is we often confuse being productive with overworking, which can lead to various unfortunate consequences, such as increased stress, insomnia, and even anxiety. Sometimes it can be difficult to detect that we are overworking, therefore, we’ve rounded up 6 signs that may indicate it’s time for you to take a break!

1. You’re easily frustrated

Feeling anger for no reason at all or being easily irritable could be your body’s and mind’s way of showing you it’s time to take a break. Not to mention, constant negativity could negatively impact your personal relationships as well.

2. You have trouble disconnecting

Do you come home after work yet find yourself still thinking about work? Constantly checking your email and phone? Technology is both a blessing and a curse. Unfortunately, because we have never-ending access to our work, it can lead to being overworked.

Next time you come home after work, try to put your phone down and do your best to disconnect and rest. After all, you’ll be even more productive the next day after a fully rested evening!

3. You always feel behind with work

Do you feel like you never have enough hours in the day? The ironic thing about overworking is that it actually makes you less productive. Keep this in mind next time you find yourself working overtime.

4. You feel less motivated

If you’ve lost motivation to do something you used to love, this may be a sign of being overworked. Creativity and vision need their time. Trying to rush things and working over hours could lead to a lack of motivation and passion.

5. Difficulty focusing

Lack of focus is another early sign of overworking. If you find yourself struggling to focus or you keep forgetting things, it’s time to take a breather.

6. Your health is declining

Last but certainly not least, the impact of overworking can show up in your body. Anxiety, depression, insomnia, poor eating habits – these are just a few examples of what could come from overworking.

As you can see, overworking can cause various issues that can later impact your health and even your personal life. If you notice any of these signs, don’t ignore them. Instead, take a step back and give yourself some time to relax. In the long-run, you’ll be healthier, happier, and more productive.
