How to know if it’s time to quit your job

28 June 21

Sooner or later, the time to quit your job may come. But how do you know it’s actually time to go? Here are some signs to look out for.

You aren’t improving

It’s called “climbing the career ladder” not without reason. You may be good at your job and have a great salary, but if you aren’t improving in any way, this may mean it’s time to go. Ask yourself, if you stay at your job, what will you learn in the next year? If you don’t have an answer, it’s likely time to say goodbye.

You don’t feel passionate about your job

Passionate doesn’t necessarily mean you’re jumping out of your bed every morning excited to get to work. However, you should feel motivated at work and feel like you’re thriving. If you deal with dread and have no real interest in what you do, that’s a bad sign.

You don’t fit in the company culture

Company culture is more important than many may think. If the company’s values aren’t true to you, chances are you will leave sooner or later. On the other hand, if you fit in with the tone and attitudes, you are more likely to feel thriving.

You feel undervalued

This doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being underpaid. Undervalued also means that your accomplishments aren’t recognized or appreciated. Every single employee is an integral part of the team and they should feel that way throughout their whole employment.

Ultimately, the decision to leave a job is fully yours. Consider these signs, think critically, and decide what makes the most sense for your future.
