10 Ways To Live More Sustainably

8 June 21

Small choices in our everyday lives can have a huge impact on the environment in the long term. That’s why it’s extremely important we are educated and know how to make the right choice. Here are 10 simple ways you could live more sustainably:

1. Think twice before shopping

Do you really need that new sweater? Every product we purchase has an environmental footprint. So next time you want something, ask yourself if you really need it.

2. Use reusable alternatives

Plastic bags, water bottles, paper cups – all of these and more could be replaced with reusable, eco-friendly alternatives.

3. Go paperless

Avoid wasting paper by choosing to receive receipts and letters by email.

4. Recycle

Make sure you’re putting your garbage into the correct bins so it could be recycled.

5. Drive less

Choose to walk or ride a bike to a certain destination when possible. Not only will you help the planet, but your body as well!

6. Use eco-friendly cleaning products

Chemical-based products can often be harmful to the environment. Opt for green, eco-friendly cleaning products that won’t negatively impact the environment.

7. Save water

Don’t leave the sink running if you’re stepping away from it for a minute. Those minutes add up in the long-term, so try to use less water.

8. Donate unused items

No longer need a certain item? Donate it! If someone else finds it useful, this will help reduce waste.

9. Save energy

Reduce carbon emissions by saving energy at home. Turn the heating down, switch off standby appliances, dry your clothes on a rack instead of in a drier, etc.

10. Plant your own vegetable garden

Think about all the resources it takes to get produce to the grocery stores. Instead, opt for growing your own food, which will reduce your carbon footprint.
